Welcome to Main Line
Prestige meets privacy in this historic community outside Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia Main Line is another name for the western suburbs that flank U.S. Route 30. Renowned for its history of cultivated country living, the unofficial historic region of affluent towns brimming with class and charm is an ideal destination for families, young professionals, and retirees alike.
First dubbed the Main Line due to its being the “Main Line” of the Public Works railroad system, the area now popularly called the Philly Main Line is replete with excellent neighborhoods, villages, and towns, all boasting their own unique history. Though there are well over a dozen communities, there exist only seven “core” communities. Home to sprawling estates, the area is a bastion of “old money” living that blends historicism and modernity effortlessly into exclusive, upscale living.
Today, Main Line is characterized by rapid investment, prosperity, and growth. Fashionable and sophisticated, the area is dotted by homes of the Tudor Revival, Dutch Colonial, Georgian, Federal, and Neoclassical styles, all speaking to the wealth of history present in the area. Enamored by a great location, gorgeous sprawling estates as well as townhomes and upscale apartments, and big-city amenities, many are proud to call Main Line their home.
